My prayers and good wishes go out to all the Egyptian and Tunisian freedom fighters out there.

Happy 2011!
Happy New Year, y'all! Hope it's been a great start so far, and even if it wasn't, the road ahead is freshly uncharted with much potential and possibilities :)
Anyways, here's a video by the irrepressible Jane Lynch aka Sue Sylvester from Glee which aims to educate drivers on the dangers of texting while driving.
What does it have to do with reflections on 2011? Absolutely nothing; am just putting it here cos it's entertaining and funny.
Enjoy!

Little Drummer Boy
Advent is one of my favourite seasons, and it's always a challenge to not get too distracted by all the "commercial"-ness and feasting, and to remember that it is because of Christ's arrival that we are even celebrating at all.
One way I remember is through the carols we sing, and one of my favourites is Little Drummer Boy, especially this version:
I know there's a Funny or Die homage by Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly (check it out here), but this version still does it for me.
Enjoy!

"Hold my hand, Doctor. Try to see what I see. We're so lucky we're still alive to see this beautiful world. Look at the sky. It's not dark and black, without character. The black is in fact deep blue. And over there, lighter blue. And blue and through the blueness and the blackness, the wind swirling through the air. And then shining, burning, bursting through through the stars. And you see how they throw their light. Everywhere we look, complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes."

...from hibernation, or more to the point, resuscitating this blog with new musings on various trifles that catch my fancy. Or perhaps a picture or two, like this:
In the 2 years (!) since my last post, I've moved on to a new gig, travelled a little more, made a couple of new friends, found new interests (and blogs to read!), and hopefully have gotten wiser with time and default experience.
What hasn't changed is that I still doth procrastinate too much. I'm writing this to get into the habit of penning my thoughts somewhere at least once a day (even if it's only to insert a photo I fancy). Let's see if I'm able to sustain it this time :p

Of duets & other pairings
I've been stranded on a musical desert of late, so I shamelessly asked friends to recommend some nice tunes. These came in abundance, including stellar acts like Jason Mraz and those OneRepublic boys (yes, I have been stuck in the desert for THAT long).
Funnily enough, one of the songs that left a deeper impression is this local piece by 林宇中 & Sheila Majid called "Melody". I've never sampled anything from 林宇中's repertoire and while I know Sheila by reputation (I was once malaysian, after all), I cannot say I am all that familiar with her songs.
Still, this is a simply-titled song with a soulful tune. I managed to track down a fairly decent live version. Thanks to icenik for the recommendation!
